The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) was established about 25 years ago to help promote our valuable hardwood resources throughout the world, “successfully building a distinctive and creative brand for U.S. hardwoods.” As described on their website, “AHEC’s global program of activities secures a future for American hardwoods by demonstrating the performance and aesthetic potential of these sustainable materials, while providing valuable creative inspiration and technical advice.” (https://www.americanhardwood.org/en)
AHEC has developed a fascinating interactive map demonstrating the status of our valuable hardwood resources, allowing users to view national and regional distribution, growth and removal information for most of the main commercial American hardwood species.
