Barry Cunningham

Barry Cunningham

FORECON is very pleased to announce the hiring of Barry Cunningham as a Staff Forester/Office Manager to handle operations out of our Smethport, PA office.

Barry is a well-seasoned and accomplished forester, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Science from the Pennsylvania State University.   After finishing at Penn State, he gained valuable practical experience in several forest industry positions, and then took a job as a forestry consultant with Bruce E. Robinson, Inc., a respected forest consulting firm headquartered in Jamestown, NY.

During his 16 year tenure there, Barry was responsible for a variety of services, including all aspects of timber sale administration (landowner communications, silvicultural treatment decisions, timber marking, advertising, permitting of various activities, and ongoing sale supervision), assisted in the training and supervision of forest technicians, prepared a number of forest management plans including New York State Forest Tax Law 480-A plans, Forest Stewardship plans, and Forest Land Enhancement plans.  He has also been extensively involved in timber cruising, appraising, log scaling, damage and urban tree appraisals, sugar bush management, and Christmas tree management in his consulting role.

After his time as a forestry consultant with Bruce Robinson, he worked for a few years as a training/treatment supervisor and counselor for a large company that operates a variety of facilities providing rehabilitation services for at-risk youth, and then came back to the forestry profession as a procurement forester with both Clear Lake Lumber and Brownlee Lumber, both respected lumber manufacturing facilities in northwestern Pennsylvania.  In his procurement roles, he was charged with securing private supplies of timber to feed these mills, giving him a very intensive knowledge of the industrial perspective and great familiarity with the area’s resource and landowners.

Barry is a very knowledgeable, personable and well-spoken professional that we are extremely happy to welcome to the FORECON family.  We know he will add a lot to the depth of expertise here at FORECON, and we are excited to offer his skills, knowledge, and passion for sound, responsible forest management to our clients.
